Upgrade for my old Sonica, a Mac USB-out to optical-in stereo system adapter?
For years I’ve had a Sonica hooked up to my stereo system to play iTunes through an optical input on my hi-fi amplifier. Manufacturer M-Audio no longer supports drivers for its Sonica compatible with my newest laptop, a MacBook with the Intel Core2 Duo. Can anybody recommend a device (USB or Firewire adapter to optical) that will support Macintosh drivers for BOTH my older G3 iBook 700MHz PPC laptop running Mac System 10.3.9 as well as my newer MacBook 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo laptop running System 10.4.11?
zephyrwind has offered a really great suggestion — I just hadn’t thought about Airport Express. However, I’m thinking that M-Audio’s “Transit” gizmo might just offer a tad more flexibility to cover output from other programs as well.
