i need to increase the input level on my sound card can you help me?
hey, i have an m-audio delta sound card – it’s output level is alright, but it’s input level (for example when i’m recording a microphone) is horrible! i get a really low signal – i tried playing around with the settings of the sound card but that didn’t help – i heard i should get an amplifier/pre amp for the sound card – does any one know of any cheap (or better yet free) software that does this? or any other solution besides this? thanks!
I bet your microphone needs “phantom power” (which most pre-amps can provide). Many microphones need power(volts) to operate correctly.
I’ve got a new PC (tower only) but have no sound coming from speakers.?
My old speakers have only 1 socket to plug in. But back of tower has 5 sockets. Is this because i need to buy 7.1 speakers to suit.

when you have only one plug with your speakers you need to plug it into the green socket,this is the main front speaker socket
to be more precise,its the furthest socket to the left on the row of three,and below is just two
also go to control panel>sounds and multimedia>audio>and check that the correct device is enabled,to see which device you are using look on the first tab and check above the volume slider,the name will be there
allthough you can use a soundcard,intergrated audio has gone leaps and bounds in recent times,and a good onboard audio such as realtek ac-97 is more than enough for the average user
powered speakers are quite easy to purchase and you can buy a dolby 5.1 surround sound for less than £50(http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=138330),this set is excellent,i bought it around 6 months ago and the quality is brilliant,especially through my intergrated audio
